Many laser-training systems previously tested were of limited utility and I wasn’t convinced of the bang for the bucks. Then we received samples of Laser-Ammo’s SureStrike Ultimate LE Edition kit and their LaserPET Electronic Target. They list for $199 and $119.95, respectively. By the end of one hour of testing with pistols and an AR-platform carbine, we were planning to buy two more LaserPET targets. Not a toy at all, this is a serious training system.

The LE kit gives you all the components for an in-the-bore laser unit, adaptors for 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP pistols, plus one for your .223/5.56mm carbine and six reflective targets. The LaserPET target accepts a variety of slide-in target “cards,” and you can easily program it to either record and count total hits only or time elapsed in hundredths of seconds from the “beep” to your first hit on target, as well as total hits — if you make any — in a 5-second period. This is an incredibly flexible system of excellent quality. For more info: //
