Twice The Ammo – MAC’s 1911-9-DS
Double-stack 1911s are currently being used by SWAT teams, fugitive task forces, and "gun-savvy" officers nationwide. The first high-profile use of the double-stack 1911 was by the F.B.I.'s Hostage Rescue Team (HRT). For several years, HRT used customized Para Ordnance P14s. Gunsmith Les Baer built those guns, and commercial copies were sold as the S.R.P. Hi-Cap. No longer produced, these guns have become collectible. A Les Baer modified ParaOrdinance P-14, one of the guns [...]

A Less-Filling Handful
Springfield’s EMP4 Solves The 9mm/1911 Conundrum Story And Photos: Jeff John The slim wood grips are delightfully flat (held by flat-black Torx screws) and the new EMP4 frame is 1/2-inch longer than the 3-inch version. The test: to stand at 15 yards, shoot as fast as I could hold the sights on target, and see where the bullets landed.
Back-Up Guns:
Primary Or Secondary Guns? Or Both… Your back-up gun should be one you would be willing to bring to a gunfight because when you reach for it, you will be in a gunfight. You’ll be in a gunfight and you’ll probably be losing, or at best fighting to an ugly [...]

The “Oops” Factor
Ignoring Lessons Learned From Experience Has Consequences By Massad Ayoob Experiential learning is the kind that stays with you. Over the years (in shooting and in life) doing things right gave me positive reinforcement and warm fuzzies, but making mistakes was where I really learned lessons. Unfortunately, learned lessons are [...]
