So Why Are We Changing?
If you work in a prison, odds are you’ve been frustrated by frequent policy and procedure changes. Since we supervise some of the most manipulative individuals in the world we’ve developed a necessary skepticism in the motives of others. This translates into healthy suspicion when administrations make unexplained changes in operations. Usually there are good reasons for change, and our need to become adaptable rests with understanding those reasons. After all, most of us understand and appreciate why there are limits to what we can bring on planes these days. Let’s walk a bit through recent history and highlight a couple of the more prominent “we must change” scenarios.
