On May 25, 2020 Derek Chauvin a 19-year veteran of the Minneapolis, Minnesota PD knelt on the neck of George Floyd for eight minutes. Chauvin’s actions may have contributed to Floyd’s death, but his autopsy showed he had methamphetamines and four times the lethal amount of fentanyl in his system with an underlying heart condition and obesity.

Whether or not Chauvin’s action caused Floyd’s death, we must keep in mind that this was one officer in one department. With approximately 800,000 officers nationwide, the vast majority are fine people dedicated to protecting the people who they took an oath to protect. Are there bad apples? Certainly, but there are also bad judges, bad doctors, bad car mechanics etc.

In the aftermath of Floyd’s death there were many protests nationwide—many of which turned into violent riots. Entire neighborhoods were burned to the ground and looting was common. It remains a mystery how stealing designer sneakers, beer and flat screen TVs honored Floyd’s death.

In excess of 700 law enforcement officers were injured on the job during nationwide demonstrations—over 400 in New York alone—by the end of July.

David Dorn, 77, a retired St. Louis Police captain was fatally shot during the looting while attempting to guard a friend’s pawn shop.

During the riots NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan knelt with a crowd of protesters while his officers were still being assaulted on the streets.

Webster, MA Police Chief Michael Shaw laid face down on the pavement for over eight minutes during a Black Lives Matter demonstration to show solidarity with the demonstrators. Ironically, Shaw was wearing a Thin Blue Line face mask which Black Lives Matter has declared to be racist.

In the wake of the demonstrations many mayors and some business’s appeared to have Stockholm Syndrome. So afraid of their aggressors that they join with them and began identifying with their “captors.”

Many statues and monuments have been removed or replaced and the Police Memorial Statue was removed from Byrd Park in Richmond, VA.

Jenny A. Durkan, the mayor of Seattle allowed Anarchists the takeover of a police precinct and six square blocks in Seattle and declare it their own country. Durkan said it was a “block party.”

Several cities have voted to defund their police departments and replace them with a yet undefined “community” alternative.

Protests in Portland that turn violent during the night have gone on for more than 100 days as this is written while Federal officers protect the Mark O. Hatfield United States Courthouse from arson attempts. Numerous officers have been injured and three may have permanently lost their eyesight as anarchists shined high intensity lasers.

Portland Police, handcuffed by city politicians who pander to the rioters, were ordered not to assist Federal authorities.

Going completely insane, the TV series COPS was cancelled after more than a 30-year run as anti-police sentiments swept through Hollywood and Legos stopped making any police related toys.

However this turns out in the end, rest assured we support the Thin Blue Line.
