When you’re in the market for a small Kahr, it’s probably because it meets certain needs and has some key specifications. Of course it better be reliable and decently accurate. And although it may not be the funnest gun to shoot, it still gets around town easy. In fact, because of its smallish size, it’ll go just about anywhere.
Take Kahr’s CW380 Tungsten, for example. Part of Kahr’s “Value Series,” this Kahr has a sticker price of $419. So you may be able to find it on the street for less.
A few specs will suffice to make the point that this gun should get a test drive.
CW380, as its name implies, fires .380 caliber cartridges. Fill it up with six rounds (plus one in the chamber), add the included second magazine, and you’ve got 13 rounds on hand. Adequate for most civilian concealed carry situations, right?
This Kahr weighs 10.2 ounces without the magazine but 13.2 ounces fully loaded. So it’s a lightweight by most measures.
At only 3.9” high and 4.96” in length, there’s not much to work with in terms of gripping area, but then, there’s not much to hide either. A tradeoff, indeed. And with a slide with of .75” the conceal-ability factor is really good.
With those weight and size specs, this Kahr’s mission seems pretty clear: It’s best suited for pocket carry (in a holster, of course) where it’ll ride comfortably but ready to deliver at the right time.
A brief walk around this gun reveals textured polymer grips, a very basic sight setup, and a good-looking paint job: Tungsten Cerakote finish on the stainless steel slide.
Time to wrap my hands around it, clean it up, check the oil, and get it to the local range. Also, I’ll take some time to find out what other owners have experienced…
