Search and rescue teams and reserve units are natural assets to the law enforcement machine. Those staffing them are often professionals in other fields, who bring ideas and technology from those fields to enhance and make the most of very limited resources. Michael Bailey is an example of this. He’s a member of a Southern California Search and Rescue (SAR) team, and a software engineer with 25 years of programming experience.
In seeing there was room for improvement with how his own SAR team was run, Bailey created Mission Manager software to bring his team into the new millennium; and what started as a SAR tool is now being utilized in several other areas of law enforcement. Even fire departments have found it to be helpful.
Team Management & Messaging
Law enforcement agencies live in a world of certifications and constant training. Mission Manager keeps a database of all personnel, their contact information, all their certifications, training levels and expirations. Since each team member can have their own login, they can maintain all their contact information so it’s always up-to-date. The system will automatically notify personnel when it’s time to renew training or update a certification. The type of fields the system tracks for members is customizable by the particular agency. Supervisors can control system-level access for personnel.
Any emergency response group needs a fast and efficient way to get messages to its personnel, and Mission Manager accomplishes this too. With just a couple clicks on a mouse or a phone call, the system will broadcast an e-mail, SMS, and make phone calls to your whole team or sub-team groups. Because everyone maintains their own information with their own logins, the messages always go to the right place. Mission Manager integrates with a phone message line where all personnel can call and receive actual voice messages.
