Call it “peace of mind” or “high-tech life insurance” — the Digital Door Viewer can give you both. Simple to install on doors 1.37″ to 4.13″ thick, it allows you to discretely identify who’s at the door, take photos or video of them and store the time-and-date-stamped data on a Micro SD card, which holds up to 32GB. You can program it to take photos or video when someone presses the integral doorbell, or have it activated by its motion sensor.

The camera is .3 megapixel and the view is a panoramic wide-angle up to 165 degrees, to see — and record — “associates” off to the sides as well as right up front. Inside, the LCD viewer display is 2.25×1.625″ high, and you can choose between five brightness settings and how long the screen stays lit when activated. There’s even a built-in infrared LED providing night-vision effects for darkened areas. The unit runs on a rechargeable 1500 mAh battery, there’s a low-charge indicator and the charger is included.
