G2G-Fury
Not too many years ago, you could pump a mighty 80 lumens out of a 6″ flashlight powered by two CR123 lithium batteries. Fast-forward to SureFire’s new 5.4″, 5.7-ounce Fury and your top-end output is now a blinding 500 lumens! This is certainly more than enough to scramble a scumbag’s circuits, but way more than you need for most routine illumination. No problem; the Fury also has a 15-lumen setting.
And, they got the controls right: a single half-tap on the tailcap switch gives momentary LOW, a full tap-to-click provides constant, and a quick double-tap or double-push gives momentary and constant HIGH. As on many past models you can lock it in enabled or disabled mode by twisting the tailcap.
Built to the usual SureFire standards, the Fury’s aerospace aluminum body is mil-spec hard anodized, and the beam is center-loaded with a wide, uniform peripheral corona. Runtime is 1.5 hours on high and 46 hours on low. It’s a winner, priced at about $155. www.americancop.com/surefire
