Not Just For SWAT Guys

Some cops equate breaching with a SWAT entry; one definition of “breach” is: to make a hole or opening in (something), which pretty much sums up SWAT. Truth is, patrol officers probably breach more doors on a daily basis than anyone. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until I joined SWAT I learned some valuable techniques on how to do it properly.

Cops have literally been kicking in doors for centuries, but as doors and locks are built better and stronger, cops now injure themselves more as they try to kick or ram their shoulder through doors. So how do we continue to force our way into buildings — safely, efficiently and, in some ways, cheaply?
